Visited MU Parlour on a whim – happened to chance on an article featuring it while browsing through a magazine. They offer a mishmash of stuff – burgers, cocktails, coffee and cakes. Somehow that all pulls together with their eclectic choice in furniture and decor.
We arrived late – about 9ish? It was pretty quiet and empty.
Bob and I ordered 2 burgers –
No. 1 : Montery Jack, Streaky Bacon, Gherkins ($15)
No. 11: Avocado, Streaky Bacon, Mu Secret Sauce ($15)
According to Mu’s menu, their burger patties are hand-formed fresh every morning, “only chilled, never frozen”.
Bob describes the burgers: “like Freshness Burger, but beter. Better. Thicker. Juicier.” and Bob calls the patties BOUNCY. I thought the burgers were pretty good, but the patties didn’t have enough beef taste in them. Could’ve done with more beefy.
Oh the fries on the side – garlic fries. Fried to perfectionnnn (crispy on the outside, mash potatoey on the inside), topped with caramelized garlic and bits of parsley. DAMN SHIOK.
Ended the meal with a cocktail called “Autumn” ($14). Mu specializes in “Infusion Tea Cocktails”; I guess that means they… infuse tea in their cocktails. This one had raspberry tea, bacardi, watermelon, cinnamon, lemongrass, basil and rosemary *phew! Loved it! Also realized i really like the smell of rosemary. Like, really.
Will be back to try their coffee and cakes one day.
